Jacob's Eagle Project Day 1

Updated: Nov 11, 2025

"The following is a transcription of an interview with Jacob Powell, edited and arranged for clarity by Talon Silvia"

My name is Jacob, and for my Eagle Scout Project, I chose to serve my local community through a renovation project at Faith Baptist Church in Southbridge, Massachusetts.

Faith Church has a dedicated area used for children’s ministries such as Awana, Bible studies, and book clubs. However, over time, the space had become outdated and needed improvements to make it more safe, functional, and welcoming for the kids and volunteers who use it each week.

The Project

My project focused on remodeling and upgrading this important space. We removed old shelving units and worn-out fixtures, then installed new shelving to better organize materials and supplies. We also repainted the floors and added LED lighting to brighten the room and make it feel more inviting. The goal was to create a space that’s both safer and more enjoyable for the children and families who attend programs there.

The Planning Process

Planning began right after I earned the rank of Life Scout on May 29, 2025. From that day until my first workday on November 8, 2025, I spent nearly six months in the planning phase.

During that time, I focused on organizing every detail — figuring out how long the project would take, how many volunteers I would need, what materials and tools were required, and how much everything would cost. It was a long but rewarding process that taught me valuable skills in leadership, budgeting, and project management.

Completing the planning stage was one of the most challenging yet fulfilling parts of my Eagle journey. Seeing the space transformed and knowing it will benefit so many families for years to come made all the hard work worth it.

I rate this a zero but I can't. This has nothing good about it and does not make since. And this for Scout Sunday or what then. This is stupid! Others Troop are flipping better!
